Join us on Saturday, July 18th for an in-depth tour of the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology in Camarillo. The tour will be led by the Collections Manager René Corado, who has worked at the museum for more than 40 years. René is also a field biologist and author. During this exclusive tour we will see the largest egg that ever existed, many American and neotropical bird species and their eggs, and special cabinets with extinct species, many of which the general public don’t get access to. As we walk through this extensive ornithological collection René will highlight characteristics of the various birds, eggs, and nests that we see. He will tell us stories of his experiences and we will get a first-person account of how he went from being a shoeshine boy living on the streets of Guatemala to the person in charge of this fascinating collection.
